What this text is for

Perde asks for your explicit consent separately in order to process two kinds of special category personal data (Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, KVKK Art. 6). This consent is separate from accepting the Terms of Use and reading the Privacy Notice. In the app it is asked for on its own screen, with a checkbox that is unticked by default, and it covers only the two kinds of data below.

  • Data controller: Furkan Akturk, individual developer (App Store seller name), FAAPPS
  • Contact: hello@faapps.io

How your other data is processed, retention periods, transfers and your rights are described in the Privacy Policy.

1. Your gender and the gender you are looking for

  • Why it is special category data: together, the two may imply your sexual orientation. Under the KVKK, data about sexual life is special category personal data.
  • What it is used for: only to decide who you are introduced to and to keep each round gender-balanced.
  • Who sees it: this information is never shown to the other person or to other users on any screen. It is not passed to advertising or analytics companies.
  • Where and for how long: it is stored with your account on Supabase infrastructure in the European Union (Frankfurt). It is deleted when you delete your account.

2. The face data in your selfie

  • Why it is special category data: the comparison data derived from your face is biometric data.
  • What it is used for: only to verify that your profile photo belongs to you and that the account belongs to a real person.
  • How it is processed: your selfie is compared with your hidden profile photo on your phone, using Apple’s on-device image analysis.
  • Where and for how long: the selfie and the face data derived from it never leave your phone, are never sent to the server and are not stored. Only the result (verified or not) and the number of attempts are sent to the server.

If you don’t give consent, or withdraw it

  • Without these two kinds of data, we can’t decide who you are introduced to or verify your account. So you can’t take part in rounds without giving consent.
  • You can withdraw your consent at any time in Settings › Privacy › Manage my explicit consent. Once you withdraw it, your account no longer takes part in rounds; if you want to use Perde again, you’ll need to give consent again during sign-up.
  • Withdrawing does not undo processing that happened before. Your gender information stays in your profile but is not used in rounds. If you want it deleted entirely, you can use Settings › My data › Delete account or write to hello@faapps.io.

Consent

The checkbox in the app carries this sentence: “I give my explicit consent to the processing of these two kinds of special category data for the purposes described above.” Your consent is recorded together with the version of the text you accepted and the time; if you withdraw it, the time of withdrawal is recorded too.
